Minnehaha County is home to Sioux Falls, the largest city in the state. Trump won the county by an even 10 points, cleaning up outside the city proper. Of relevance to the 2020 campaign, the city of Brandon sits right outside Sioux Falls, and it went heavily for Trump. The last Presidential Democrat to carry it was Barack Obama in 2008
HD 27 is one of the Native-majority/plurality districts in the state. Biden carried the seat by just over 6 points, primarily due to his lopsided margin in Oglala Lakota County. The seat does contain a bit of Rapid City, the main city of the state's western half. Natives could secure a less-marginal seat, but that would mean sacrificing another Native plurality seat to the east
HD 28a is in the north of the state, and is comprised of the Native-majority counties of Corson, Dewey, and Ziebach, as well as Perkins to the west. Trump won it in 2020 by about 3.5 points (mainly due to Perkins County), and it will be a seat to watch both Presidentially and at the State House levels, starting as a tossup in each
