St Louis County MO sits to the west of St. Louis City, but still contains a sizable amount of the urban population. The last time Democrats won a statewide office in Missouri (the 2018 Auditor race), they carried St. Louis County by almost 36 points, breaking into the historically Republican-dominant suburbs and exurbs
Ste. Genevieve County sits along the Mississippi River south of St. Louis, and Democrats performed strongly here prior to the Obama era. In 2018, Galloway brought Democratic strength back somewhat, winning the county by 31 votes, primarily thanks to the margins in the Ste. Genevieve city proper
